The Upper House

A RETREAT IN THE COUNTRY

WELCOME

Upper House, a refuge from the hectic pace of life.

Less than an hour from London and just outside the ancient market town of Petersfield, Upper House is one of two adjoining rental properties set high on the Hampshire Downs. Its elegant, boutique accommodation and beautiful views make it ideal for a quiet, chilled-out weekend.

Stylish and Elegant

Upper House, initially the working hub of a busy farm estate, was converted from a series of disused Hop Kilns in 1995 into a stylish residence. It is a blend of rural and industrial architecture that reflects its 100 years of agricultural heritage.

A Peaceful Retreat

Upper House is a peaceful rural retreat in the middle of a beautiful Hampshire farming community. It is not suitable for raucous parties. However, if you want to enjoy a relaxing break, chatting, cooking and marvelling at the wonders of the finest countryside in the South of England, there is no better place.

In the South Downs National Park

The house sits a couple of miles South of Petersfield, just off the A3, 15 miles south of Haslemere and 10 miles short of the coast. That puts it in the middle of the South Downs National Park.

Yet Close too…

The 100-mile-long South Downs Way & the Queen Elizabeth Country Park are just to the South, and there are beautiful pubs down the road. There are sailing and watersports 10 minutes away in Langston, and Chichester Harbours and the Goodwood Estate is 25 minutes by car.

The House

From ancient pitch pine beams to the modern Kitchen—a space to mingle. A television for those needing a fix and a library for those wanting quiet. The Upper House has something for everyone.

The Bedrooms

Behind the large public spaces are five different-sized bedrooms and two additional, flexible rooms – each arranged with another pair of twin sofa beds. The house can accommodate up to 16 guests.

The Gardens

To the side of the house is a large brick terrace facing the setting sun. It overlooks an acre of formal gardens which give way to fields & lead onto The South Downs.
A place to relax and unwind.

Upper House Rooms

The Master Suite

As well as the wide open space, the streaming light, and the panoramic views, this split-level suite has its own private bath and shower room and a lower dressing area with an extra bed.

The Mezzanine

Up in the rafters, the mezzanine faces directly South and has the best views in the house. Lounge on the bean bags or snooze on the sofa beds of this lofty twin. This needs more text to fill out the way the page flows.

The Artists Room

There is something magical about The Artists’ room. Drift off to sleep amidst the “crackle” glazed walls and sketches recalling the artists of the renaissance.

The Library

The first of two flexible spaces, curl up with a book in front of the fire or pull in the two sofa beds to make a luxurious twin. This needs more text to fill out the way the page flows. This needs more text to fill out the way the page flows.

The Red Room

Inspired by the oriental influences of the most elegant of London Lounges. The Red Room is the most relaxing bedroom in the house—a perfect room for a perfect night’s sleep.

The Writers Room

Lost for words? Two rooms with a literary and philosophical twist. Separated by a walk-through shower, two large bunk beds are on one side opposite a spacious twin with an elevated sleeping den.
